Long Bio

John From Dawson is an Anishinabe powerhouse performer/artist born and raised in Dawson City, Yukon. John’s creativity and high energy is in partly the result of his upbringing in an off grid cabin, across the Yukon River, west of Dawson City. John often found himself alone with his thoughts and imagination as his daily life rarely found him in larger social groups other than at school. John was always interested in music and performance. He performed with the Han Singers and Dancers from the age of 9 until his early teens. John decided to move to Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon,  in grade 12. He wanted to experience life in a large school as Dawson School is very small.

It didn’t take long for the small town kid to acquire the nickname “John From Dawson'' due to his stunts and personality.

After moving back to Dawson, nineteen year old John from Dawson experienced multiple life changing events that led him to releasing his emotions through writing and talking to his notebook. Before long he started turning those emotional words into full length songs and creating his own beats to back them up.

What started as an emotional reaction and release, became John’s entire life . Since 2019 he has released three full length albums, multiple singles, and several professional quality music videos. John performed as an emerging artist at the Dawson City Music Festival. He has closed out Keno Music Festival  twice as John From Dawson and again in  2024 as the lead singer for Baby Ronka and the Boy Friends. John has opened for rappers Havaih Mighty and  Snak the Ripper.

John continues to fill several Yukon and British Columbia bars and special events. He is currently working on a EP to be released in Spring of 2025.  John consistently delivers performances that radiate talent, positivity and a genuine connection with audiences to make all his performances unforgettable.
